It’s been a long time since I’ve done PPV predictions in a blog format. Don’t worry though, once I get over my fear of doing a podcast alone, this will be in both audio and text format. I used to blog predictions a long time ago on a website called nearfallnews.net, but after we started doing the podcast, I felt that it was completely unnecessary. You can actually read my old blogs and predictions if you do a little digging, I’m not going to link it off here, but if you feel the need, you can probably find them on this website somewhere.
If you haven’t heard, there were some big changes made to the TLC ppv over the last week. If you haven’t heard that, you can read about it here. Kurt Angle will be wrestling his first WWE match since 2006, and AJ Styles will now be wrestling “The Demon” Finn Balor. So you can say that my interest is peaked now.
Alicia Fox vs. Sasha Banks
Winner: Sasha Banks
If you haven’t heard, apparently, Nia Jax is currently no-showing events. So, this match was supposed to be Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax, which probably would have ended up with Nia Jax winning. With that said, I can’t really see Alicia Fox doing the same. While, I don’t watch RAW every week, I do read the results, and it doesn’t seem like they’ve done much with her. Let alone, do enough to warrant a victory over the most popular Women’s wrestler on the roster. Also, I’m pretty sure WWE is going to want to get the crowd warmed up with a feel good moment, so I see Sasha going over clean as a whistle. On top of that, they need to keep Sasha strong for her inevitable loss to Asuka.
WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss(c) vs. Mickie James
Winner: Alexa Bliss
I can’t really say I’m excited about this match. WWE is fully on the Alexa Bliss bandwagon. So I don’t see her losing to Mickie James in this match. I fully expect them to keep riding the Alex Bliss bandwagon until Wrestlemania, where they will finally have Asuka dethrone her.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Kalisto(c) vs. Enzo Amore
Winner: Enzo Amore
They kind of took the title off Enzo with absolutely no build up at all. I know they kind of book themselves into a corner with the whole Neville situation, but why bother taking the title off Enzo so early. It doesn’t make any sense. For as much as I don’t enjoy Enzo’s in-ring work, he has probably been the best thing about the Cruiserweight division since the Cruiserweight Classic. I fully expect Enzo to win the title back. Then retain in the rematch the next night on RAW. Then if Neville isn’t gone from the WWE for sure, I fully expect them to re-ignite that feud as soon as possible.
Tag Team Match
The Brian Kendrick & Jack Gallagher vs. Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann
Winners: Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann
This is an odd PPV. 3 women’s matches, and two Cruiserweight matches. I understand that you are pretty much using the entire uppercard in the main event, but no Hardy Boyz, no Jason Jordan, no Club, no Elias, hell even no Goldust. It’s just extremely odd. As far as this match goes, it doesn’t matter who wins. I’m picking Alexander and Swann because they are the faces.
Asuka vs. Emma
I kind of feel bad for Asuka, she has a lot of hype she has to live up to. As Nakamura has proved, that’s always not the best situation to be in. Though, there isn’t much to predict about this match other than how long it will last. I say it will last a solide 6 minutes. What do you think?
AJ Styles vs. “The Demon” Finn Balor
Winner: Finn Balor
We go from one match that has a clear winner, to a match than I’m not exactly sure what’s going to happen. With no build up, and both guys on the cusp of a World Title push, this match should be exciting. The two former leaders of Bullet Club are finally going to colide. It’s just odd that they would put this match together on a whim. I understand that there is a virus going around the WWE locker room that knocked Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, and Bo Dallas out of action, but this is extremely unexpected and I applaud WWE for that. My hope is that they get 30 minutes, and there is a clear winner at the end of the match. Though, I will say that I’m a bit scared that this will somehow turn into a Tag Match between Balor/Styles vs. The Club. While that match would be great, it is no substitute for this match. Even if you are not going to watch TLC, do yourself a favor and tune in for this match.
5-on-3 Handicap TLC Match
The Bar(Sheamus & Cesaro), The Miz, Braun Strowman, and Kane vs. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Kurt Angle
Winners: The Bar, The Miz, Braun Strowman, and Kane.
Roman Reigns getting removed from this match was unexpected, adding Kurt Angle in place of him is even more unexpected. Wow, that is a ballsy move by WWE. Adding Kurt to a match with no build up and having it be his first match in WWE in 11 years, that’s bold. Personally, I hope they re-book this match and add Jason Jordan and Samoa Joe to the face team. The match was one-sided before, and now it’s even more lopsided with the most overpowered member of the Shield being removed from the match. You could justify adding Samoa Joe by saying that he joined Kurt’s team as a favor to Kurt. As far as who’s going to win, the only way I don’t see the heels winning is if Braun Strowman ends up abandoning his team. I fully expect Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to do most of the selling and heavy lifting to the match. I don’t think Kurt will do any high spots or anything like that. I’m excited to see Kurt wrestle in WWE again, but I can’t say I’m super excited about this match. Especially if it remains a 5-on-3 match.
This a pretty lackluster card overall, but Kurt’s return and AJ wrestling Finn are definitely two very good reasons to tune into this one.
